Java developer with minimum 4 years experience sought by growing software company to deploy and customize our software package for new customers. Ability to collaborate with a team, understand requirements, convey progress to clients, and demonstrate excellent English communication skills are all a must.
Our company was founded in 2003 as a web design and interactive marketing company. Over the course of 75 client engagements developing campaigns and web apps, our focus shifted to developing and selling (on a software as service basis) a software package that helps mid-sized companies manage web content, create product catalogs, tag web ads and banners for reporting, track leads and deals, and offer partners and customers a secure portal space for business.
In early 2009, in a partnership with an ad agency, we began to sell our software offering to new clients on a turnkey basis, with deployment, customization, content loading, hosting, and design all included in a monthly fee. We now have a backlog of customer projects and a sales pipeline that we can`t tap into without another developer on board.
We are seeking a skilled Java Developer (see requirements below) to work directly with our software architect, who is one of the principals of the firm, as well as a designer and interface developer, on new client deployments. The Java Developer will deploy the software, implement templates provided by an interface developer, customize the display and database as needed (based on requirements developed in collaboration with the client), and perform QA and support for each install. Typically the initial deploy requires 20-40 hours per client.
This job will be on a part-time contract basis at first; but a successful candidate who works well with the team and clients can become a full time hire with benefits if that is a goal. Principals of the firm are based in Brooklyn, upper Manhattan, and Connecticut, with an office space in Brooklyn. In 2010 we expect to also open a small Manhattan office.
Skills requirements
4 years professional experience with Java, Tomcat, MYSQL, JSP, Javascript
Knowledge of Eclipse, SVN
HTML and CSS a plus
Excellent English communication skills
